love is colder than…

KLINIKEN/

The protagonists of KLINIKEN /love is colder than death make up one organism and speak one monologue written for many voices. The neurotic figures in Norén’s KLINIKEN become characters of cult German director Rainer Werner Fassbinder’s imagination. There are lovers whose life is determined by mad politics; there are terrorists from RAF and Socialist Patients’ Collective members fighting for freedom; there’s one actress who wants to play in the film and other who wants to be kidnapped; there is a suicide who reads Schopenhauer and – last but not least – there is compulsion of acting above all. Film enviruses reality. The space thus creates is outside social, political, and emotional norms. It is an asylum for people with overtaxed sensitivity who desperately desire another world and another self. Life is a battle and not an illness which must be diagnosed and treated: no one here is ill and everyone is lonely.
